Clarksville mom convicted in baby's drowning death

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- A Clarksville woman has been convicted in the death of her 8-month-old daughter, who drowned in a bathtub after being left alone.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports that jurors returned a guilty verdict Wednesday against Nicole Pamblanco on charges of criminally negligent homicide and aggravated child neglect.

Prosecutors say she left her daughter, Abigail, unattended in a bathtub with the water running.

Defense attorney Mike Flanagan told jurors that Pamblanco did not intentionally leave the child to die. He said he would appeal the verdict, but declined further comment.

Sentencing for Pamblanco is set for July 8.
