The United Auto Workers local in Chattanooga hasn't decided to seek a new election for just skilled workers at the Volkswagen plant as a Facebook post claims, but it's not ruling out another ballot either.

"There are multiple paths toward collective bargaining," said Mike Cantrell, president of Local 42. "All options have been and remain on the table. Local 42 will continue exploring options under federal law and in line with Volkswagen's global business practices."

A Facebook post under a page "Yes 2 UAW at Volkswagen" claimed that Local members had decided to move forward with a vote of maintenance, or skilled workers, at the plant. Maintenance employees maintain and fix the specialized plant equipment.

"Although we have more than enough members to win a general election, we believe this is the right way to move forward," the Facebook post said

However, the Facebook page isn't an official UAW site.

Cantrell, in a statement, didn't specifically address the website. He said an objective of the Local is moving toward collective bargaining to reach a multi-year contract between VW and employees.
