UPDATE: Suspect apprehended in Waffle House parking lot shooting, police say

Two people were shot this morning at the Waffle House on Cummings Highway in Lookout Valley, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Chattanooga police report that the suspect is now in custody at the Dade County jail.

He was found in a cave in Trenton, Ga., by the Chattanooga Police Department's Fugitive Division.

The Chattanooga Police Department was assisted by Dade County Sheriff's Office and United States Marshall's Service.

The victims, 22-year-old Ashley Harris and 25-year-old Joshua Maples, were exiting the parking lot in their vehicle when Harris' ex-boyfriend began shooting, police said.

The victims arrived at a hospital via personal vehicles. They had non-life threatening wounds, the release stated.

The suspect, Michael W. Shavers, has warrants on file for two counts of attempted murder.
