Fire destroys house in Chattanooga this morning

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a large fire at a vacant house this morning, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

It happened just before 1 a.m. at 2800 E. 18th Street Place. The house was roughly half enveloped by flames when firefighters arrived on scene, the release stated.

It took the firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control, the release said. No injuries were reported. The house was considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
