UPDATE: Medical condition may be to blame in deadly crash, police say

UPDATE April 9 at 1:00 a.m.: A medical condition may be to blame for the deadly crash on Interstate 75, police wrote in a news release.

Taylor Haggard, 22, was driving an Acura SUV on Interstate 75 southbound when she traveled across the median and hit a vehicle head on.

Haggard has a medical condition that may have contributed to the crash, according to the release.

Haggard and a juvenile passenger received minor injuries, but the driver of the other vehicle, 84-year-old Luchen Bailey, was killed.

One person died Saturday in a head-on collision on Interstate 75, according to Chattanooga police.

One vehicle crossed the median between mile markers 12 and 13 and hit another, police spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said. No information was immediately available on the drivers' names or whether anyone else was injured.

The northbound lanes were shut down for hours and after the 5 p.m. crash and traffic was diverted off the interstate. One lane was reopened around 9:30 p.m.
