UPDATE: The Hamilton County Board of Education voted against Interim Superintendent Kirk Kelly's budget for this upcoming year, which asked for an additional $33.5 million in additional revenue.
School board members said more funding is absolutely needed for schools, and voted in favor of Kelly providing them with a balanced budget and a list of the district's additional needs.

The Hamilton County Board of Education is meeting tonight and will vote on the budget for this upcoming fiscal year.
Hamilton County Schools Interim Superintendent Kirk Kelly has presented the board with a budget that asks for $33.5 million in additional revenue, which he says is needed to boost student outcomes. Once a budget is approved by the board, it will be given to Hamilton County, which funds the school district.
At least two members of the school board say they plan to vote against the budget.
School board member Joe Smith is expected to make a motion requiring Kelly to present a balanced budget to Hamilton County, along with a list of the school district's needs and how additional revenue will be spent.
