Hixson Pike, from Stuart Heights to Haywood Avenue, is now open.

The stretch of road was closed between 11:49 a.m. and 5 p.m. today due to downed power lines.

"It was a due to a tree falling," an APL Services lineman said as crewmen regrouped at a nearby church. "It knocked all the lines down."

APL performed the work on behalf of EPB, he said.

A passing motorcyclist said he had just got back to town and saw trees down in other places in the city.

Heavy rains have pummeled the area, resulting in flooding along I-24, west of the city.

Hamilton County 911 records show several downed lines this afternoon.
