The Chattanooga Zoo announced the death of one of its snow leopards. The announcement was posted today on the zoo's Facebook page.

Tankh, a geriatric male snow leopard, experienced severe kidney disease over several years, which resulted in kidney failure.

The 17-year-old leopard was euthanized Friday, April 21.

Tankh came to the zoo in 2015 as a breeding recommendation companion for our resident female snow leopard, Callie.

The zoo will soon be working with the Snow Leopard Species Survival Program in an attempt to have another male companion placed for Callie.
