Taxi hits 6-year-old boy in Dalton

A 6-year-old boy playing with his brother on Juniper Avenue in Dalton was hit by a taxi when the boy ran into the street, according to a release from Bruce Frazier with the City of Dalton.

The boy was alert and talking at the scene but was transferred to Erlanger after being taken to Hamilton Medical Center, according to the release.

The taxi belonged to Ramirez Taxi. The driver was driving approximately 20 miles per hour when the boy ran out in front and was hit, according to the release.

Officials do not anticipate any charges against the driver at this time. Witnesses and an investigation show the driver was driving slowly but was not able to avoid the collision, according to the release.
