A rope rescue is underway in the Pocket Wilderness at the foot of Mowbray Mountain after a man fell from a rope swing at a blue hole swimming area and hit his head.

Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Weddington said the man was able to walk out with nine of his friends back to the first creek crossing, but it was impassable due to rainfall.

Rescue personnel from Mowbray VFD, Sequoyah VFD, Soddy Daisy FD and Walden's Ridge Emergency Services are on the scene to help all ten people cross the creek.

Fire officials report the injured man is denying medical treatment from rescue personnel. Hamilton County paramedics are also on scene for any potential injuries to rescue personnel.
