A man has been charged with first degree murder for the death of Bradley Powell.

Powell was reported missing by family members in Dec. 9, 2016, only two days after he was last seen. At the time, Chattanooga police said his disappearance was suspicious because he was normally always in contact with his family.

On Dec. 28, police combed the area along the Hamilton and Marion county borders. Powell's body was found in early February in Walker County, Ga.

On Monday, a Marion County grand jury indicted Cody Waggoner, 22, charging him with one count of first degree murder, according to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Waggoner was served with the indictment on Tuesday while incarcerated in the Silverdale Detention Center on unrelated charges.

Waggoner has an arrest record in Hamilton County dating back to 2013, according to Times Free Press records. Most of his previous charges include theft and drug-related offenses.
