The Hamilton County Clerk's Office has announced vehicle registrations are up by 3.4 percent compared to this time last year.

"The increased traffic could be related to the population increase reported for Hamilton County since the last census," Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles said.

Hamilton County recorded 158,397 transactions between January and July, an increase of 5,229 over the same period last year, he said. In 2016, more than 60,000 motorists - almost 40 percent of the 153, 168 vehicle registrations that year - renewed online or by mail.

"With this increased activity I'm pleased that motorists are utilizing time-saving renewal options offered online at www.countyclerkanytime.com or through the mail program," Knowles said.

For those who wish to renew vehicle registrations in person, they may visit the Hamilton County Clerk's Office at its courthouse office or its Bonny Oaks branch 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
