UPDATE: The Bradley County Sheriff's Office this morning issued a statement regarding Tuesday's death of former officer Deanna O'Daniel, who died Tuesday of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Deanna O'Daniel was the wife of Bradley County Sheriff's Office deputy Robert O'Daniel.

"Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts go out to Patrol Deputy Robert O'Daniel regarding the loss of his wife, Deanna O'Daniel. Our agency will be readily available to offer our assistance in a

number of capacities during this extremely difficult time. The announcement of former Correctional Officer Deanna O'Daniel's death has deeply impacted her colleagues, who shared many memories during her tenure at the Bradley County Sheriff's Office. While we continue to express our deepest condolences, we also want to recognize her years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment as a public servant to this community as a 911 dispatcher and correctional officer," the statement said.

UPDATE: The wife of a Bradley County Sheriff's Office deputy died Tuesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a news release.

Cleveland resident Deanna O'Daniel, 45, died at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland shortly after the incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. O'Daniel's body will undergo an autopsy, and agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will continue to investigate the woman's death. The sheriff's office turned the case over to the TBI because it involves an officer's wife.

Bradford said officials were not prepared to talk about the medical conditions of the person or persons involved in the shooting and he said he could not comment on the nature of the shooting.

The shooting scene is in the north end of Cleveland just west of the Cleveland Regional Jetport, on the 700 block of Old Tasso Place.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities in Bradley County say a shooting involving a deputy's wife happened in the 700 block of Old Tasso Place around 8:22 a.m., according to a statement released by the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

Officers responded to the scene following a 911 call, according to the statement.

Sheriff's office spokesman James Bradford said the county agency has turned the investigation over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation since it involves an officer's wife. The TBI will be the agency in charge of releasing further information, Bradford said.

Bradford said officials were not prepared to talk about the medical conditions of the person or persons involved in the shooting and he said he could not comment on the nature of the shooting.

The shooting scene is in the north end of Cleveland just west of the Cleveland Regional Jetport.
