TUNICA, Miss. (AP) - A protest over the dress code at a Mississippi high school has resulted in the arrest of some parents for trespassing.
Students at Rosa Fort High School in Tunica walked out Wednesday after school officials told them they couldn't wear colored shoes to school because of possible gang affiliation.
According to the district's 2017-2018 student handbook, students can only wear solid black, brown or white shoes. Students and parents said they didn't know of the change.
WREG-TV reports at least two parents face charges for allegedly taking their children off campus without permission.
Ashley McKay says she was there during the protest and when she got home she was arrested on charges of trespassing, harassment, disturbing a public school and contributing to child delinquency.
More arrests were expected.
