Man shot by robber Saturday morning in Chattanooga

Chattanooga police say a robber shot a man early this morning.

Maurice Flanagan, age 38, told police he "was approached by an unknown male who demanded money," in the 2100 block of Rawlings Street, said police spokesman Rob Simmons. The suspect then shot him and fled, leaving the victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were called to a local hospital at 1:10 a.m., responding to a report of person arriving with a gunshot wound.

The Violent Crime Bureau is investigating the incident. Police ask anyone with information to call them at 423-698-2525. Callers may remain anonymous.
