A 23-year-old man admitted to groping a 15-year-old girl at a bus stop in East Chattanooga on Wednesday, according to police.

Donta Williams was jailed Thursday after the girl's grandmother confronted him about the allegations, according to court records.

The girl told her grandmother that a man rubbed his hand across her face, tried to kiss her and then grabbed her buttocks when she walked away from him while waiting for the bus at a stop on N. Willow Street Wednesday morning.

The grandmother accompanied the girl to her bus stop on Thursday, and the girl pointed out the man, who police later identified Williams.

After the girl got on the bus, the grandmother confronted Williams with police officers. She will not be identified in this story to avoid identifying the girl. The Times Free Press generally does not identify victims of sexual assault.

Williams was arrested at the bus stop and later confessed to the girl's allegations, according to police.

He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on a $20,000 bond and remains in custody today.

Williams has previously been arrested in Hamilton County for burglary, domestic assault, public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, among other charges.

He is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Sessions Court on March 7.
