ORIGINAL STORY: One man was shot in the leg shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday night on the 5300 block of Lee Avenue in the Piney Woods neighborhood of Chattanooga.

A witness, Noah Pendergrass, said he came outside when he heard yelling and saw three men trying to get into a neighbor's home.

He said someone yelled about calling the police and then heard a single gunshot.

One of the men fell over on the porch and the other two ran down the street.

A roommate called 911 and Pendergrass said he ran over to the porch, and used his shirt to staunch the bleeding of the man's wound.

He indicated a man walking around on scene 15 minutes afterward with a bandage around his calf was the one who had been shot.

Police on scene declined to comment on the shooting beyond confirming that there was a single victim.
