Gibson helped develop a curriculum map at her school, coordinates the spelling bee, is the cross country and track coach, and works with the local Alzheimer's association.

Kristin Burrus, who teaches seventh grade at Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, won for grades five through eight level. Burrus is a STEM Fellows Program member, a cabinet participant at the CSAS Shared Leadership Team, a presenter at the National Paideia conference and Magnet Schools of America conference, and facilitates the CSAS Earth Club.

Finally, Jessica Hubbuch, a chemistry and world concepts teacher at The Howard School, won for the high school level. Hubbuch uses hip-hop music to teach scientific concepts and theories, and won the Teacherpreneur competition hosted by the Public Education Foundation. She is a member of the Science Leaders Network and co-founded Howard's outdoor leadership club.

The Hamilton County school district will recognize the three teachers and their principals at a special luncheon at The Chattanoogan Hotel on March 3.
