MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Another inmate is dead from violence at a state prison in central Alabama.

A statement from the prison system says 47-year-old Timothy Robertson was stabbed to death Tuesday night at Elmore Correctional Facility.

The department says 28-year-old inmate Jason Lee Jackson is being charged with murder. The prison system says an officer found Robertson in distress in a yard, and video surveillance and witnesses identified Jackson as a suspect.

Robertson was serving 35 years for a rape conviction in Marengo County. Jackson is serving five years for robbery in Barbour County.

Robertson is only the latest inmate killed at the prison. Two prisoners died in separate stabbings in February, and an officer was wounded in March.

Prison Commissioner Jeff Dunn says the agency will address the escalation of violence.
