One killed, six injured in Marion County crash on Monday

A two-car crash on U.S. Highway 41 in Marion County, Tenn., on Monday killed a Sequatchie, Tenn., woman in one vehicle and injured the driver and five children in the other.

Betty E. Henderson, 73, of Sequatchie, was killed when her 2015 Chevrolet collided with a 2007 Ford Expedition driven by 40-year-old Laura Jeanette Sanders, of Jacksonville, N.C., according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Henderson was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said in a report on the accident that Henderson was traveling south on Highway 41 near Jasper, Tenn., when her Chevrolet crossed the center line and hit Sanders' Ford head-on.

Five children in Sanders' vehicle, ranging in age from 12 to 17, were injured, authorities said.

Everyone in the Ford was wearing a seat belt, according to THP.
