Second person this week dies at Little River Falls

An 18-year-old man drowned at Little River Canyon National Preserve in Alabama Friday afternoon.

The man was swimming at Little River Falls with friends at approximately 1:45 p.m. when the drowning occurred, according to a release from the National Park Service.

He is the second person who has died this week at the falls.

The teenager's body was recovered from near the center of the basin at the bottom of the falls by Fischer Rescue Squad and Alabama state troopers, according to the release.

The incident is under investigation.

Earlier this week, William Gregory "Greg" McCary, 57, died after climbing over the railing to take a picture of the falls.
