Authorities in Alabama said two DeKalb County residents lost their lives in a two-car crash Thursday on Alabama Highway 35 in Rainsville.

Two other people were injured, according to a statement issued by Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Curtis Summerville.

Troopers said Charles Ray Bramblett, 67, of Fyffe, was killed when the 2005 Buick he was driving crossed the median and struck a 2009 Chevrolet driven by Cheryl R. Browder, 30, of Fort Payne.

Bramblett, who was not using a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Browder, along with a passenger were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.

A second passenger in Browder's vehicle, Patty Browder, 56, of Henagar, was also pronounced dead at the scene and was not using a seat belt.

The crash happened at 3:10 p.m. CDT on Alabama 35 at the 29 mile marker inside the Rainsville city limits near the intersection with Old Highway 35 East.

Summerville said nothing further is available as troopers continue to investigate.
