Jurors have been assembled to hear the case of a 31-year-old Soddy Daisy man accused of murder in a 2015 graveyard slaying.
Authorities believe Chad Massengale participated with Dekota Burchard and Roy Henderson in the 2015 beating and stabbing of 51-year-old Tony Rector.
Police found rector's body at the Soddy Presbyterian Cemetery on Dec. 29 and used a series of interviews to trace the beating back to a house on Dallas Hollow Road. All three men face first-degree murder charges and life in prison.
Massengale is the first to go to trial, and attorneys spent the morning selecting a jury to hear his case.
The next step is opening statements, in which jurors will hear the evidence that prosecutors and defense attorneys intend to present throughout the week.
