Freezing temperatures trigger school closings, delays in Chattanooga region

Frigid weather has prompted some schools in the Chattanooga region to close or delay opening today.

As of 6:30 a.m., Hamilton County Schools in Tennessee and Cherokee County Schools in North Carolina will be operating on a two-hour delay. Bledsoe County Schools and Sequatchie County schools in Tennessee will be closed.

A hard freeze warning has been issued for Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Murray, Rhea, Sequatchie and West Polk counties in Tennessee, Catoosa, Dade, Walker, Whitfield counties in Georgia, and Cherokee County in North Carolina.
