An increased number of vehicles has slowed traffic to a crawl on Interstate 24 westbound from the Browns Ferry Road exit to the Tennessee-Georgia state line, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's SmartWay website.
UPDATE: The traffic gridlock on I-24 westbound has been cleared.

ORIGINAL STORY: An increased number of vehicles has slowed traffic to a crawl on Interstate 24 westbound today from the Browns Ferry Road exit to the Tennessee-Georgia state line, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's SmartWay website.
The problem was reported about 3:30 p.m. and estimated to be cleared by 6:30 p.m. The website showed improving movement on I-24 at 5:20 p.m.
Westbound traffic is affected with delays expected. Eastbound traffic is affected with no delays.
