Gordon Lee substitute teacher under investigation

The Gordon Lee building, one of two proposed for replacement, is seen before a Chickamauga City School Board meeting held Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga, Ga., to inform the public about plans for two 1930s-era buildings on campus. The board's proposal for solving problems related to the age of the buildings includes building new historically-accurate buildings in front of the old ones before demolishing them.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether a Gordon Lee High School substitute teacher sent inappropriate pictures to students, the agency's spokeswoman confirmed tonight.

Melody Day, the superintendent of Chickamauga City Schools, said the husband of the teacher reported the alleged pictures to an administrator at the school. Day was not sure exactly when that report came in, but she said, "it's been under investigation this week."

No charges have been brought against the woman. Day said she was not an employee but was on a school list of available substitutes. At some point, she stopped working at the school, telling the administrators she received another job.

Day was not sure when the woman stopped teaching at the school.

"When we got [the tip], we were just shocked and didn't know if it was accurate," she said. "... Nothing's confirmed right now. It's just under investigation."
