Chattanooga police arrest man wanted for murder in West Virginia

Chattanooga police have arrested a man who is wanted for the slaying of a man Saturday in West Virginia.

Investigators were led to a location on the 3500 block of Dayton Boulevard at 2:10 p.m. Monday afternoon and found Charles Gardner, 26, in an apartment. He surrendered without incident.

According to media reports in Huntington, W.Va., the victim, James Patton, was found shot to death late in the morning in a neighborhood in East Huntington.

Both Gardner and Patton were reported to be Michigan natives.

Joe Ciccarelli, the Huntington police chief, told reporters the death was being investigated as a combination of drug-related violence and a crime of passion.
