TBI determines Collierville, Tenn., sighting not missing teen, teacher

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation determined a reported sighting on Thursday was not the missing 15-year-old girl from Maury County believed to be traveling with a 50-year-old man in Collierville.

Elizabeth Thomas, 15 and Tad Cummins, 50, were reportedly sighted at a Shell gas station at 398 New Byhalia Road in Collierville at about 12:45 p.m.

"We've determined it wasn't them," said Josh DeVine, TBI spokesman.

A 15-year-old girl missing from Maury County and traveling with a 50-year-old man may have been sighted at a Shell gas station at 398 New Byhalia Road in Collierville.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it is investigating the reported sighting of Elizabeth Thomas and Tad Cummins, which a Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesman said came in at about 12:45 p.m.

"As we've previously indicated, dispatch traffic heard over the scanner should not be confused with confirmed sightings of these individuals," said Josh DeVine, TBI spokesman. "Again, at this time, there have been no substantiated sightings of either individual."
