UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning issued for much of Chattanooga area

UPDATE at 10:09 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Bradley, Meigs, McMinn, Marion, Monroe and Hamilton counties.

The warning is in effect until 11:15 p.m.

Most residents in the Chattanooga area should be on the lookout for severe storms Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 a.m.

Tennessee Counties in the Times Free Press coverage area included in the watch are Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea and Sequatchie counties.

A weather service bulletin said numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are possible tonight and into Sunday morning as a strong line of storms drops into the region from the northwest, bearing potentially damaging winds.
