The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of Ron Harlan Lewallen, 30, of Dalton, Ga., in an officer-involved shooting in Oneida, Tenn., early Saturday morning.

Two deputies with the Scott County Sheriff's Office and one officer with the Oneida Police Department tried to pull over a vehicle traveling south on Alberta Street just before 12:30 a.m., according to a news release from the TBI.

Harlan didn't immediately stop, continuing to the parking lot of a business at the intersection of Alberta and Depot streets, the news release stated. Officers approached the vehicle and removed a woman passenger.

"The driver of the vehicle refused to comply with commands and accelerated, driving toward officers and nearly striking them," according to the news release. "Officers fired shots toward the vehicle, which left the parking lot and continued to travel north on Alberta Street for a short distance before crashing."

Lewallen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jared Effler, 8th Judicial District Attorney, asked the TBI to investigate, which is routine in officer-involved shootings. The officers' identities were not released.
