Cherokee County, Ala., authorities arrested Georgia fugitive

A 37-year-old Rome, Ga., man was arrested in Cherokee County, Ala., Tuesday on a felony warrant for violation of probation.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said Ricky Moore was a fugitive from Floyd County, Ga., wanted on the felony warrant for violating his probation, but after he was taken into custody, Moore was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Moore awaits the setting of a bond on his local charges in the Cherokee County Detention Center, Shaver said. He's also awaiting extradition to Georgia to face the charge there.
