ORIGINAL STORY: Firefighters battled a house fire Sunday evening in the Birchwood area, according to Hamilton County Emergency Services' Amy Maxwell.

A 911 call was made about 6:05 p.m. reporting a house fire with possible entrapment on the 12100 block of Dolly Pond Road.

The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and reported a fully involved house fire.

Since the fire had consumed the entire house, it was unsafe for firefighters to enter the home and conduct a search of the house. Firefighters had to conduct a defensive attack to contain the fire.

Currently, firefighters have not confirmed if anyone was inside the home.

The house is a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

East Ridge Fire Department, Bradley County Fire Rescue and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded for mutual aid to cover the Highway 58 VFD district for any additional emergency calls.
