About a dozen departures from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport to Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., and Tampa Bay today have been canceled, according to Lovell Field.

Also, some 10 flights scheduled to come into Chattanooga from those cities also are canceled.

As the remnants of Hurricane Irma approaches the Chattanooga area, Lovell Field officials are warning fliers to check their airlines to make sure there's no disruption of their flights.

"As a result of hurricane Irma, the weather system will be affecting flights in and out of Chattanooga today so if you are travelling we urge you to check with your airline before arriving at the Chattanooga Airport," said airport spokesman Albert Waterhouse.
