A small kitchen fire led to an evacuation of 80 residents at Silvertree Seniors Chattanooga on Highway 58, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Management.

No injuries were reported, and Chattanooga firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area of a sixth floor apartment, the news release stated.

Once the fifth and sixth floors of the apartment building are properly ventilated, residents will be able to return to their apartments.

Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department Chief Charles Harris said the manager of the apartment complex will provide a temporary apartment for the resident in the affected apartment. Damages are reported to be $10,000.

Chattanooga Fire Department was the first agency on the scene. Because the apartments are located outside city limits and in Hamilton County, Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department arrived shortly after to assume command from CFD. Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded for mutual aid.
