Crews work to clean up early morning fuel spill on I-24 west near downtown Chattanooga

A tractor-trailer traveling through the Tennessee Valley leaked fuel on Interstate 24 westbound overnight and drivers could experience some early morning delays, according to our news partner WRCB.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway website shows an incident reported around 12 a.m. Wednesday on I-24 between mile marker 179 and mile marker 177 and was estimated to be cleared by about 6 a.m. Westbound I-24 traffic is affected with the right lane blocked. Eastbound I-24 traffic is not affected.

WRCB reports that fuel is on the road from around Rossville Boulevard to the ridge cut.
