Fire destroys family's house in Harrison while they are on vacation

A family's house was destroyed by fire Wednesday night in Harrison, a day after they left on a vacation, according to a news release from Amy Maxwell of Hamilton County Emergency Services.

A 911 call was made about 9:45 p.m. reporting a house fire at the 6300 block of Rim Crest Lane in the Harvest Run subdivision.

The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and reported that the house was engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly conducted a defensive attack to get the fire under control and to stop the fire from causing heat damage to adjacent homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County Emergency Services personnel were on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters.

Fire officials reported the house is a total loss and was valued at more than $175,000.
