18-year-old Vashawn Evans was shot in the Walmart parking lot at 490 Greenway View Dr. in Brainerd, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
The shooting occurred Saturday shortly after noon.
Evans was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. He is a validated gang member, according to the release.
