Fire destroys house on Mowbray Mountain in Soddy-Daisy

A house on Mowbray Mountain in Soddy-Daisy was completely destroyed by fire Tuesday night, according to a Hamilton County Emergency Services news release.

Multiple 911 calls came in about 5:30 p.m. reporting the house fire on the 9900 block of Moonlight Trail. No injuries were reported.

The Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene to find 80 percent of a two-story wood frame house on fire. The driveway to the house was very narrow, making it difficult for fire trucks to get up the driveway, according to fire officials.

Water tanker shuttles had to be used at the residence, which is an apparatus designed to transport large quantities of water.

Low fire hydrant water pressure and live power lines that were downed on the property made fighting the fire difficult. Once EPB arrived and turned off the power, firefighters were able to conduct a defensive attack on the entire structure, according to the report.

A family was living at the residence and the homeowner was at a neighbor's house at the time of the fire, according to a Wednesday news release.

No injuries were reported. Mowbray fire officials said that the home was in the process of foreclosure. The house is a total loss and valued at $150,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
