NASHVILLE - State Rep. Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga, has been named to the Republican GOPAC's Legislative Leaders Advisory Board for 2018.

The political training organization, founded in the 1970s and once headed by Newt Gingrich, seeks to develop new Republican leaders.

"As a member of our Advisory Board, Representative McCormick will serve a key role in supporting our mission to educate and elect the next generation of Republican leaders," said GOPAC Chairman David Avella in a news release.

McCormick, a former Tennessee House majority leader who now serves as chairman of the House Finance Subcommittee, said he was "honored to join a team that has served the conservative cause for decades by providing training and policy development. GOPAC's role in equipping leaders to govern using proven principles is unmatched."

He added that "good policy results in good politics. But, good policy works best for Tennesseans and all Americans."

Members of GOPAC's Legislative Leaders Advisory Board promote the ideas they are championing by addressing elected officials, candidates and members at GOPAC events and via its digital program. They also nominate promising state legislators for the Emerging Leaders Program and provide updates on key legislative and political developments within their respective states.
