The TBI and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department have charged a Spencer, Tenn., man in the January killing of a Sparta man.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began investigating the death of Albin Buechel in his home in the 400 block of Arthur Seagraves Road on Jan. 20. During the course of the investigation, authorities developed information leading to 47-year-old Billy Joe Wannyn as the individual responsible for the crime, TBI officials said Monday in a news release.
The Cumberland County grand jury returned indictments on Monday charging Wannyn with one count of first-degree murder, one count of felony murder, and one count of aggravated robbery. Authorities served Wannyn on Monday with the charges at the Cumberland County Jail, where he was incarcerated on unrelated charges.
