Chattanooga police on the first night of the year Monday investigated a shooting on East 34th Street after the juvenile victim showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said in a statement Monday morning that the juvenile victim walked into the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound he said came from a shooting while he was walking along the 2700 block of East 34th Street. The incident was reported at 10:37 p.m. The suspect or suspects have not been identified.

Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are actively investigating the shooting, Myzal said, and the investigation is ongoing.
