Anthony Lebron VanceChattanooga police charged a suspect Wednesday night in connection to an alleged rape earlier this month.
Anthony Lebron Vance, 54, was already booked into the Hamilton County Jail on an unrelated charge of theft of property. Special Victim Unit investigators added the rape charge Wednesday.
On Jan. 3, police responded to the Avondale neighborhood after a woman called to report a rape. She told police that an unknown man approached her and raped her.
Investigators gathered a detailed description of the suspect, which led them to identify Vance.
Vance has an arrest record in Hamilton County dating back to 1993, according to online court records. Most charges are for public intoxication.
