A Whitfield County, Georgia, woman has been arrested after shooting her father early Sunday morning.

Deputies with the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office were called to a home at 4045 South Dixie Highway at around 1 a.m. and found Hannah Henderson standing in the driveway, according to an incident report.

She told deputies she shot her father, 50-year-old George Samuel Henderson, over assault allegations involving a child and that he was in the kitchen, the report states.

Deputies found George Henderson lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen floor with bloody footprints leading outside through the carport, the report shows. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including at least one to the head, authorities said.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Hannah Henderson and George Henderson got into a physical altercation, a news release states. But the evidence found at the scene did not support Hannah Henderson's account of what happened, according to investigators.

Hannah Henderson was taken into custody and charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of methamphetamine.
