CANTON, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia hiker has been found alive, around 10 hours after he went missing.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports 41-year-old Brendan Dowling, of Kennesaw, called 911 Sunday around 6:30 p.m. to say he was lost. Canton police spokesman Pacer Cordry says Dowling's cellphone battery died during the call.
Responding authorities found Dowling's car at Boling Park in Cherokee County, and launched a wider search, using all-terrain vehicles and a police helicopter. Cordry says Dowling was found on a wooded trail around 4:30 a.m., clad in a T-shirt and shorts.
Cordry says police are still determining how Dowling got lost. He was evaluated by search and rescue personnel and reunited with family. His exact condition wasn't released.
According to National Weather Service data, Fahrenheit temperatures in Canton averaged in the 50s overnight.
