Chattanooga Lookouts third baseman Sean Miller has been suspended 50 games for violating baseball's minor league drug program.
Miller was suspended after a second positive test for a banned substance. His penalty was announced Saturday by the commissioner's office, which did not elaborate on the substances involved.
Montrell Marshall, a first baseman in the Cincinnati Reds' farm system, also was suspended for 50 games for a second positive test, bringing the number of players suspended this year under the minor league drug program to 48. Nine major leaguers have been suspended this year.
A 23-year-old native of Crofton, Maryland, Miller was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round of baseball's first-year player draft in 2015. This season, he has played 10 games with Triple-A Rochester of the International League and 46 games with Double-A Chattanooga of the Southern League.
With the Lookouts, he is hitting .220 with five doubles, a home run and eight RBIs in 140 at-bats.
Chattanooga hosts the finale of a four-game series with the Birmingham Barons at AT&T Field at 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
