The city of Cleveland, Tennessee, received $674,190 in grant money on Tuesday for its 25th Street Corridor Area Multi-Modal project.

The project includes construction and reconstruction of sidewalks along 25th Street from Peerless Road to Keith Street and along Peerless Road from 25th Street to the Bradley County Nursing Home. The work also includes curbs and gutters, guardrail, Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades, striping, landscaping, pedestrian amenities and a bus stop.

The transportation alternative grant is made possible through a federally funded program formerly known as transportation enhancement and administered by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Through these grants, department of transportation Commissioner John Schroer said TDOT has funded more than $372 million in non-traditional transportation projects.

"The city of Cleveland is committed to providing safe pedestrian and bicyclist facilities for its residents and linking critical economic, residential and recreational areas," Schroer said in a news release. "Projects like this enhance the lives of Tennesseans and make our communities more livable."
