Tree service worker injured after work truck rolled down hill

A local tree service worker was injured Tuesday afternoon while trying to stop a 1999 Ford F-150 from rolling down a hill in the 8000 block of Woodstone Drive.

The worker was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to a news release. It's not clear how severe the injuries were.

Hamilton County sheriff's deputies got the call at around 2:40 p.m. At the scene, they met the tree service workers who had been grinding a tree stump. When they finished, they loaded the grinder onto a trailer that was attached to the truck that was parked on the road facing downhill.

While loading the grinder, the truck came out of gear for an unknown reason and started rolling down the road. One of the workers noticed the truck was starting to move and tried to enter truck and stop it from crashing but was injured during the attempt.

As the truck continued down the hill, it struck a Chattanooga police car which was parked on the roadway and not in service.

The truck pushed the police car down the hill and into a yard in the 8000 block of Woodstone Drive where it came to rest after being pushed into the front porch of the residence. The home and both vehicles sustained damage due to the collision.
