2 Georgia men drown off Florida Panhandle beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Two Georgia men drowned in separate incidents off a Florida Panhandle beach.

The News Herald reports 21-year-old Tony Orlando Jackson of Cartersville, Georgia, was found in the water off Panama City Beach on Sunday, several hours after police responded to a distressed swimmer call.

Witnesses told police Jackson didn't resurface after being overtaken by a large wave. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

On Saturday, 67-year-old Eugene Spann of Atlanta was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico. Police said he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
