ATLANTA (AP) - A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot in a northwest Atlanta home over the weekend.

Carlos Davis died Sunday from a single gunshot wound. Atlanta police Lt. Carven Tyus tells WSB-TV that several other people were in the room where Davis was shot.

However, Tyus says Davis and the gun weren't on scene when police arrived.

Atlanta police Sgt. John Chafee tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Davis was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle and later died. The cause of the shooting is still unknown.

The official Twitter account of Benjamin E. Mays High School Athletics said Monday morning that the team had "lost another Raider football player, Carlos Davis."
