The Bradley County Sheriff's Office is assigning personnel to security booths directly in front of the county's two high school campuses.

Bradley Central and Walker Valley high schools will have an armed deputy who will maintain a written log to check individuals who come and leave the campuses, according to a news release.

A marked patrol vehicle also will be stationed in conjunction with the security booth as a visible presence of the sheriff's office.

"I am pleased with the addition to increase safety at both of our schools," Director of Schools Linda Cash said in a statement.

Since 2014, a crossing guard was added at Walker Valley High School, as well as an additional school resource officer at Bradley Central High School. Both county high schools will now have three assigned security personnel from the sheriff's office to help with school security operations.

"After much collaboration between the sheriff's office and Bradley County Schools, implementation of the security booths is the first of several initiatives that will be instituted to enhance security measures to assist with protecting faculty and students," Sheriff Eric Watson said in a statement.
